Kelk Jeffery is a composer and singer based on the traditional unceeded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples – also known as Vancouver, BC – and lives in Lions Bay and Wells BC. Inspired by contemporary choral, electronic, and classical music with an obsession over harmony and form, she has always sought to strike a balance between the new and the old, the quaint and the extroverted, the mechanical and the natural. Through her work, she explores the numerous and often complex ways n which we can relate to each other across vast stretches of time, and , experience. Her work aims to blur the boundaries between genres and styles.
Kelk currently sings with the Vancouver Youth Choir, - where they placed first in the 2026 Cork International Choral Festival, and Nabi Vocal Ensemble. She has also sung with Chor Leoni, and the West Vancouver honour Choir.
Kelk began her studies at the UBC School of Music in Violin Performance under David Gilham, with the hopes of becoming a Great violinist. After a bout of tendinitis at the end of her first year, she began composing, and became instantly hooked. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Composition, and has studied with Jennifer Butler and Dorothy Chang.
Growing up in both Vancouver and the historic mining town of Wells, BC, on the territory of the Dakelh and Secwépemc peoples, Kelk has always sought to strike a balance between the rural and the urban; the quaint and the eccentric; the organic and the industrial.
When she is not composing, Kelk has an exceptional interest in history, particularly the history of music and fashion. Kelk is currently involved with bringing the Arts Wells Festival (A festival of all things art) to life.
